Formula & Calculations
Metal roofing panels are run vertically from the eave up to the ridge. The length of each panel must match the rake length of the roof. The number of panels required is based on the roof width (length along the eave) and the width of each panel:
Panels Required = (Roof Length / Panel Width) × (1 + Waste / 100)
We round up to the nearest whole panel since partial panels cannot be purchased.
The total coverage area is the simple sloped rectangular area of the section:
